  4. Ho-ho-ho... Just a quick pre-release of mikmod 2.10 for all you Watcom fans
  5. (especially for those of you who might need it for The Party :)
  6.  
  7. The most important changes are:
  8.  
  9. - Batteries included.. ugh I mean binaries included
  10.  
  11. - You can compile & use mikmod in both C or C++ mode
  12.  
  13. - Global volume XM effects supported
  14.  
  15. - The ASM mixing routines are back (twice as fast as the C versions)
  16.  
  17. - Ensoniq Soundscape driver

  20. A few tips
  21. ==========

  23. - Please don't forget about the /zu switch.. read WATIRQ.DOC
  24.  
  25. - Use pmodew for your final versions instead of DOS4GW. (faster, better,
  26.   it RULES!)

  28. - Give me some credit if you use it in your demo
  29.  
  30. - Interpolated mixing is not present in this version.. wait for the final
  31.   mikmod 2.10 release.

  34. Shareware or PD ?
  35. =================

  37. As of version 1.90 and higher (which some people received) MikMod is 
  38. SHAREWARE. Now don't format your harddisk.. This only means that you have to 
  39. give me a small teensy-weensy one-time $25 US registration fee if you want to 
  40. use MikMod COMMERCIALLY. Basically the rule is: IF YOU'RE ASKING MONEY FOR 
  41. THE PRODUCT YOU'RE USING MIKMOD WITH, YOU HAVE TO REGISTER. See REGISTER.FRM 
  42. for more details on how to register.

  44. - Registering MikMod is for binaries only. You're not allowed to distribute 
  45. the MikMod sources or parts of it in _any_ form. If you do want to distribute
  46. the sources on a commercial basis, you'll need special permission of the 
  47. author (Jean-Paul Mikkers).

  49. - Registering MikMod gives you the right to sell an unlimited number of 
  50. copies of the product you're using it for.. pretty flexible huh?
  51.  
  52. - Registering MikMod 2.09B means that you're registering all versions of 
  53. mikmod between 2.00 and any updates until version 2.99. This allows for 
  54. bugfixes and updates without the need to register again.
  55.  
  56. - A MikMod registration cannot be transferred from one person to another, or 
  57. from one person to a company, or from one company to another company.
  58.  
  59. - Any contributors to MikMod (bug-fixes, new loaders, new drivers) will get 
  60. automatic registration for ALL MikMod versions. I'll decide if your 
  61. contribution is good enough for registration.
  62.  
  63. - If you're a very poor shareware author and you want to use MikMod, send 
  64. some email with your story :). I'm always willing to negotiate a lower price, 
  65. or some form of alternative payment (like sample CD's, or software or Cindy 
  66. Crawford videos =).

  68. - It's not illegal to register MikMod even when you don't use it commercially 
  69. =P

  71. So you see, I'm not doing this to get rich.. but it would be nice if I could 
  72. buy a couple of CD's from the registration money, or at least get the money I 
  73. spent on buying my SB16.
